Three Cruise Experiences you May Not Have Thought Of

If you are the type of person who gets bored after being in the same place for a couple days when you are on vacation, you may want to think about taking a cruise. It’s the perfect way of seeing different places without having to change hotel room at any point. Of course, you will not always be in one of the ports of call, you will probably spend a lot of time on the water; but that is not a problem as you have access to a wide range of entertainment onboard.

If you do not like the idea of being out in the middle of the ocean, this is not a problem. You may want to think about taking a river cruise instead. There is always something different to see on one of these cruises, along the banks of the river.

Taking to the river instead of the ocean

Among the most popular choices, when it comes to river cruising, are the Upper Mississippi river cruises. This is the heartland of America that inspired Mark Twain to write his stories. It has always been a part of the country that is associated with adventure. You can join in with the adventure on an elegant steamboat which evokes memories of a time gone by. If you are lucky, you may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife, including the famous bald eagle.

Experience the Panama Canal

The Panama Canal may not sound like the most engaging place to visit on a cruise, but it’s an experience you will never forget. This is the type of cruise where you get more from the experience if you can learn about the history and working of the canal as you travel along it. For this reason, it’s a good idea to choose a cruise line that includes talks and commentaries, to keep you informed and educated. Listening to all of this information is the perfect background to the experience of traveling through the locks on this incredible waterway.

Enjoy the tropical highlights of Hawaii

Cruising the Hawaiian Islands takes you through a variety of different environments, from the tourist beaches of Waikiki to the beautiful scenery of Kauai and the Big Island. Cruising is the perfect way to sample the delights of each island and see which ones you may want to visit for an extended length of time in the future. If you are thinking of taking this cruise it may be a good idea to hire a car on the islands, so that you can see as much as possible in a short period of time. There is plenty to see, including the Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island where you can get an idea of the power of a volcano.

It does not matter what type of environment you would like to visit, from big cities to areas of natural beauty; you should be able to find a cruise that provides you with exactly the vacation you are looking for.
