Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Celebrates 89 Years

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a tradition for years and this year’s parade will be nothing short of spectacular. NBC’s Today show’s anchors Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Matt Lauer will host the broadcast of the parade, which takes places in New York City and begins the morning of November 26th, Thanksgiving Day.

Over 8,000 people take part in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and it will air on television to over 50 million viewers. Starting on 34th street, casts from theatrical productions like Fiddler on the Roof, The King & I and Finding Neverland will perform. Followed by they will be the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, who always put on an entertaining performance.

The other musical acts scheduled to perform during the parade include some big names like Mariah Carey, Train, Jordin sparks, Andy Grammar, Pat Benatar, Shawn Mendes, Trey Songz, Plain White T’s and Questlove will perform with special guests The Muppets of Sesame Street. Some other celebrities expected to make appearances include the cast of Cirque de Soleil, the cast of School of Rock from Broadway and hockey players Mark and Marty Owen.Santa

The large helium balloons are always so much fun to watch as they float down the streets of Manhattan. I have a feeling there will be some Angry Birds in the sky due to their new movie coming out soon. There are always plenty of Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and friends. Other characters usually include Dora the Explorer, Thomas the Train, Power Rangers, Snoopy and of course Santa.

What happens to be your favorite part of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
