Fun in Rapid City, South Dakota

You may not think of South Dakota as a state that has a lot to do. But there are so many cool things across the state. This will be one of a series of posts about things to do in South Dakota. Rapid City is the second-largest city in the state and offers a beautiful view of the Black Hills mountain range, but the city also offers some fun activities.

The Journey Museum & Learning Center
This museum is great for kids and adults. Guests can learn about the famous Black Hills like its history, geology and Native American history. It will take you on a journey from the past to the present with lots of fascinating information. The museum includes interactive exhibits, movies and historic re-creations. You can also check out the taxidermies of the wildlife. You can have fun while learning about the history of South Dakota.

City of Presidents
Mount Rushmore isn’t far from Rapid City but you can still learn about the historic presidents in the city at the City of Presidents area. The streets in downtown Rapid City is home to life-size statues of past presidents. Interesting fact, George Washington was a tall 6 foot 2 inches!

Art Alley
This alleyway has walls that visitors can use as their canvas! It is highly encouraged for people to use graffiti to express themselves at this alleyway that runs between 6th and 7th street in downtown Rapid. There is a rule though. If you are going to cover someone’s work, it has to be because you actually believe you can improve it or add something to it.
