Fun Fall Getaways Across the Country

Autumn has finally arrived and it is the perfect season to check out some beautiful places across the United States. With the cool weather and gorgeous color changing foliages, these destinations won’t disappoint.

Katy Trail, MO

The Katy Trail in Missouri is 225 miles long and runs along the Missouri River for most of the way. When the trail isn’t running along the river, it cuts through the beautiful wine country of Missouri. There are a number of cute bed and breakfasts along the way and it is the ideal spot for biking and hiking through color changing forests. The weather is always crisp and cool in the Midwest during this time of year and it is a great place to get out and do some activities in the fall weather.

Leavenworth, WA

If you want to experience Oktoberfest at it’s finest, head to Leavenworth, Washington. It is home to three weekends of Oktoberfest every October. The Northwest is a stunning area to be in to see the leaves change colors and visitors can also experience the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and explore the Bavarian Village to experience authentic Oktoberfest cuisine and a wide variety of imported beers. Mackinac Island, MI

Mackinac Island is located in Lake Huron in Michigan. It is a National Historic Landmark and also a very exquisite place to visit. The entire island is full of Victorian architecture and you can only get around by foot, bike or horse. The island is known for their delicious fudge and they also have some of the best color changing leaves in the nation. The resort island is the perfect destination to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.

Bald Head Island is a quiet island right off the shore of Wilmington, North Carolina. After summer ends, the quaint area is nearly deserted with only about 160 people in the area that call the island home. This is another island that has no cars so it offers some serene and peaceful silence. The weather is a little chilly, but the water stays warm. There is also an amazing golf course, conservatory bird walks and the iconic Old Baldy lighthouse.
