Escape the Heat at Havasu Falls

Arizona is seeing record high temperatures this week, but you don’t have to travel far to get a little relief from the heat. There are plenty of places to see around the Grand Canyon, but there is one waterfall you cannot miss. Havasu Falls is home to a blue-green waterfall that is one of the most photographed in the world.

One of four waterfalls, Havasu Falls is part of Havasu Creek, a stream that enters into the Grand Canyon and is located of the Havasupai tribal lands. Havasupai actually means people of the blue-green waters. Which is fitting since it hosts one of the most breathtaking blue-green waterfalls.

Havasu Falls is the most famous of the falls has a 100-foot vertical drop off of a cliff into a beautiful pool. Many picnic tables surround the area and visitors can take a dip in the pool and swim under the giant waterfall. The water is cold and the perfect way to escape the triple digits.

Havasu Creek sees thousands of visitors each year. You can also check out the three other waterfalls, Navajo Falls, Mooney Falls and Beaver Falls. There is a lodge and campground close by. Horses are available to ride around or you can also hike. There are even helicopters to take you to certain locations.

The best time of year to visit is between the months of March and November. The summer brings beautiful weather to Havasu Falls with highs in the lower 80s. There is a chance of Monsoons during July and August that could bring potential flooding, but if you are aware of your surroundings and plan ahead, you will not need to worry.

Grab your camping gear and your friends and head to Havasu Falls this summer. It is the ideal vacation to beat the heat and enjoy some time in nature!
