Chicago Day 1: Brunch in West Town

By now I’m sure you’ve figured out that while I might pride myself on keeping good care of my body, I’m still a MAJOR foodie. I love trying new things and love exploring as many restaurants as I can in all the cities I get to visit. After arriving in Chicago late last night, I was able to get an early start this morning and make my way to meet with my friend Angie at her favorite place to get brunch, Frontier.

Luckily Chicago has one of the best public transportation systems in the whole country, so after $2.50 and about 10 minutes I was directly across the street from my destination. At first glance I didn’t think I had the right place. Angie is not the type of girl that would want to hang out in a place with taxidermy animals on the wall and an entire alligator on the menu — seriously. Once I had a Bloody Mary, however, I was much more submissive.

The brunch menu was PACKED with some awesome choices like an ahi tuna sandwich, ‘Lollipop Wings,’ and even powdered doughnuts — I thought for a minute that I would have to be rolled out of the restaurant! Everything looked so good!

We ended up ordering the deviled eggs, a mote cristo, and an order of the wings. Everything was beyond amazing! Each dish was extremely flavorful and the plating was simple and unique. Needless to say I was very impressed.

After digesting our delicious meal, Angie and I walked down to a park to watch some kids play baseball before I decided I had to go back to the hotel to take a nap. All that food was slowing me down!

Once I was up and ready for a night out, Angie and some of her other girl friends picked me up at my hotel and we went into the city to do some dancing — my second favorite activity behind eating! We headed down to the Funky Buddha Lounge where they had some awesome DJs spinning and pretty decent drinks. There were a lot of people there but if you’re looking for an awesome place to grab some drinks and shake your groove thing, the Funky Buddha Lounge is the place to go!

After a long day and night, I finally retired back to my hotel room in hopes of getting a decent amount of sleep. Constantly traveling and flying can really take it out of ya! Excited for day two in Chicago!
