Kicking off the New Orleans Travel Blog! I’ve always wanted to travel to the Big Easy – so much culture, so much history. I’ve relished the opportunity to head down to experience it for myself once and for all. Tomorrow I’m making it happen, finally.
Most fortunately, I was able to travel to Dublin recently. While it conflicted with my travel plans to head out and log some quality Cajun time. Took me awhile to rebound from that trip financially, and with a little help from my friends (Thanks for the part time work, Amanda and John!), I have enough to board an airplane and lose myself once again.
Trying something different this time around. I’m not making a travel itinerary for this trip – literally going to fly by the seat of my pants. I’ve been warned that this is a good way to miss certain things, indirectly avoiding places of interest that I ought to seek out in my short time there. As a result of that, I have no intention of keeping a deaf ear to the recommendations I’ve already received or will receive, I just want to make sure I tailor the trip my way.
Caught news that my friend Taylor was interested in going out with me. She’s a native of New Orleans but hasn’t been there for the better part of 20 years. She doesn’t have any remaining family in the area so she’s more than willing to just wing things out there with me. It’s not often that I have the opportunity to travel with someone with such an open mind like this, but it’s always appreciated.
So my flight leaves tomorrow at about 8 AM. Going to start packing (can’t believe I haven’t yet, had so much time), get some sleep and get ready to roll. See you soon, Nola!

Love New Orleans – checked it out about 7 months after Hurricane Katrina when it was just getting back on it’s feet. But would love to go back there!
