Machu Picchu is easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever had the opportunity to travel. Pictures just don’t do it justice, you really have to be standing over the entire horizon to appreciate what it really is.
This Lost City of the Incas is the one place you need to see in Peru, or at least before you die. It is a place almost untouched by time, since it was hidden from the Urubamba Valley during the Spanish Conquest where other similar structures were destroyed.
If you’re wanting to hike around, you must go with a licensed tour guide during your 4-day adventure through 20 miles of ruins and nature. Do not go November-April, as it is Monsoon season, and you will get rained out! Make sure to plan your trip to Peru and Machu Picchu months before you go, so you can prepare yourself and locals for your arrival.
Machu Picchu is just another one of those places you find totally surreal. Do whatever you need beforehand to make the trek, I know it’s someplace I’ll always remember and be ever grateful I had the chance to experience first hand! There might not be a better natural view anywhere.
