Pomme Frites are a very popular option in Amsterdam and you can find the best at High Snack. There are several different toppings you can choose from like mayonnaise, garlic chili sauce, tartar sauce, curry sauce and even gravy. Of course you can always stick with ketchup, but other options are the way to go and they are piled high. You can even layer and mix your choice of sauces.

The Albert Cuyp Market is the largest street market in the Netherlands and has been open since 1904. They have over 300 vendors that sale food, cheese, flowers and clothes. This is where you can also find some poffertjes. These are bite-sized mini pancakes made from buckwheat and covered in butter and powdered sugar. You can think of it as a combination of a piergoi and funnel cake. Or you can also choose the classic Dutch cake that is always served warm and perfect.

Anytime you are in the Netherlands, you have to try stroopwafels. It is a chewy cookie made with two thin waffles from baked batter and stuck together with thick caramel syrup. You can find them sold in packages in store, but nothing beats a fresh and warm stroopwafel.
