This just in: You don’t need to doom yourself to another lackluster vacation. Make your holiday count with some real world experiences that are MUCH cooler than visiting yet another history museum. Going on a sweet escape to Finland, Norway, Sweden, Alaska, Iceland, or Greenland can help remind you of how exciting being a human is.
Now why would you want to go up to the north when you could be staying on a tropical island? The adventure is why! Where else can you ride a sled pulled by husky dogs across the tundra to see the Northern Lights? How about an arctic safari? How many people do you know who’ve done such things?
Each location has its own interesting features, such as the treehouses in Sweden. That’s right–skip the hotel and opt for an ultra-modern treehouse! Carefully constructed using only the best scandinavian design, you can be hoisted above the ground, comfortably during your stay in the forest. How much more enchanting and humbling can you get?
Does this sound like something you could get into? Let me tell you, it CAN happen, and it’s easier than you think!
There’s really no need to feel stressed about planning your trip, there are special travel companies that work with you to create your own personalized winter holiday trip with artisantravel.co.uk . You can stay anywhere from 3 days to over a week with planned activities, travel, and amenities.
What to pack for a trip into the freezing temperatures? Here’s a list of musts:
- Heavy, rain-resistant Parka
- Warm clothes, or clothes that work great in layers
- Lots and lots o’ socks
- water and snow resistant boots or sturdy shoes
- pocket hand warmers
- Long johns
- Gloves
- Warm Hats
- Scarves
- toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, makeup, lotion)
- Moisturizer or even petroleum jelly for the wild ones (the cold weather dries you out!)
- Vitamins (keep yourself in tip-top shape)
- Cold medicine (fever reducer, cough suppressant, nasal spray, etc)
- Your camera and any accessories you may need
- Cell phone and charger (just in case)
There’s probably a lot more to list here, but you get the general idea: pack WARM, not fashionably. Be sure to bring pain reliever, cold medicine, and other toiletries with you, as many prices in the Lapland area can be a bit staggering. I guess that’s what you get for having such low crime rates and free college!
As long as you take care of yourself before and during the trip, there isn’t a reason to believe that you’ll come down with something from the cold weather. I like to take a daily vitamin C supplement, especially when I can tell my body is sluggish.
Consider a winter wonderland for your next travel jaunt, learn something new about yourself, remember how child-like wonder felt, experience new adventures and more. Map out your dream trip today!
