Hi there! My names Josh Langely and I have spent the last decade of my life traveling the world and tasting the different cuisines the world has to offer. During my time in Europe I obsessively documented my foodie adventures in 10+ plus journals. Now that I am back in the States for at least the next year I have decided to hand pick the best restaurants from the different European cities I visited during my time abroad. Some of these restaurants are feature the national cuisine of the country others are just great eateries that feature cheap food from neighboring nations.
This Week: Helsinki
Aino
A bit on the expensive side Aino serves up delicious high-quality Finnish standards with a fine dining flair. The perfect place for a romantic evening in Helsinki patrons choose from either a set 4-course menu or a la carte choices. The restaurant also features an excellent wine list. Highlight of the menu is by far the reindeer steak which is absolutely divine.
Tori
One of the best deals in Helsinki Tori embraces the bohemian lifestyle with 1950’s décor and the local youth lounging and sipping espresso. A great place to pick up breakfast or lunch Tori is perfect for the cash-strapped tourist. Try their porridge if you are visiting for breakfast and give their meatballs a chance if you are there for lunch or dinner. The service leaves something to be desired but the food makes up for the sometimes impersonal wait staff.
Café Delicato
A great place to pick up an afternoon snack before hitting the bar district, Delicato makes delightful Italian ciabatta sandwiches for a fraction of the price you would spend at other similar restaurants. With choices like olive tapenade, gravadlax with spring onion and dill, or the salami and roma tomato you don’t want to skip this one.
Satkar
Another great value in Helsinki, Satkar is best for the Finnish traveler craving a traditional Nepalese curry or tandoor. There is nothing characteristically Finnish about this restaurant it’s just a great place to pick up a Chili Paneer on a cold night.
