Eating Cheap Amsterdam

Hi there! My names Josh Langely and I have spent the last decade of my life traveling the world and tasting the different cuisines the world has to offer.  During my time in Europe I obsessively documented my foodie adventures in 10+ plus journals. Now that I am back in the States for at least the next year I have decided to hand pick the best restaurants from the different European cities I visited during my time abroad and share them on our budget travel blog. Some of these restaurants are feature the national cuisine of the country others are just great eateries that feature cheaper food from neighboring nations.

Burger Bar

Burger Bar

Pancakes!

Check out this fun Dutch eatery that specializes in, you guessed it, pancakes in every way shape and form. From traditional flap jacks to more adventurous choices Pancakes! is a must for anybody visiting the country. They also serve Russian blini, French crepes, and Korean pajeon.

Café Het Paleis

Conveniently located just west of Dam square Café Het Paleis serves up delicious pastries and coffee. Perfect for the weary traveler who needs a break from sightseeing the crown jewel of this small eatery is their applegebak an apple tart with buttery crust and a delicious cinnamon apple filling served with a heaping helping of whipped cream.

Burger Bar

Who would have thought one of the best Burgers I have ever had would be found in Amsterdam? The Burger Bar has a customizable menu that allows you to not only choose what toppings you want to adorn you patty but also what type of beef you want to use. Customers have the choice of Irish Beef, Black Angus, and delicious Wagyu Beef as well as vegetarian options.  Cooked to perfection and served on a Brioche bun don’t skip this eatery especially after a day of partaking in the local “coffee shops”

Yam Yam

This pizzeria exemplifies the diversity of cuisine that can be found in Amsterdam. They serve a thin and crispy pizza with local and authentic ingredients. The house specialty is the simple Tartufata pizza comprised of Italian ham, rocket, thinly sliced parmesan, and unique truffle sauce for the base. The menu also features more traditional pizzas such as the margherita and bruschetta.
