Why Everyone is Visiting Iceland

More and more people are choosing Iceland as their next vacation spot. Maybe it isn’t a new thing and I just have never really heard of people traveling to Iceland for vacation, but over the last few years, I have been hearing more and more about it. So why is Iceland so popular?

Well for one, the Nordic island is gorgeous. The volcanic landscape is full of hot springs, waterfalls, geysers, glaciers and even black-sand beaches. It is crazy to think that fire and ice can coexist the way they do on the island. Just be prepared to have dark winters and sunshine at midnight in the summer. But with the dark winters come mild temperatures and the sunny summer brings cool and refreshing temperatures.

Vatnajökull and Snaefellsnes national parks are home to stunning glaciers. Not only are these glaciers breathtaking to look at, they are perfect for ice climbing, snowmobiling and even hiking. The crisp waterfalls are easy to find on the island and are a sight to see. Nothing is quite like the beauty of Iceland and there are numerous spots to go to see it. In the same trip you can experience hot springs and volcanoes along with beaches and glaciers.

Tip! Renting a 4×4 camper van can make your trip even more enjoyable because you get to cross rivers and explore the country’s best-kept attractions.

The cultural scene is impressive and so are the natives. Icelanders as they are called are creative and many are known for their writing, composing, painting, acting and designing. It is a tight-knit community and they all bring such creative energy to the island.

Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and has a lively nightlife scene along with historic Viking museums. Surprisingly, the capital is a quick five-hour flight from New York and only three hours from London. Spending a couple days in Reykjavik is a must so that you can experience the restaurants and bars along with the museums and historical landmarks.

Of course I am just scraping the surface of an incredible vacation in Iceland. There is so much to do and see that it would be impossible to go in depth and cover it all. I guess you will just have to go to Iceland to see for yourself!
