The Best Places to See in the US From a Flight Attendant’s Perspective

As many of my readers know, I used to be a full-time flight attendant. I have quite literally been all over the United States. I have seen it all. But, I don’t often talk about my most favorite places I have visited and stayed. So today, I figured I would change that and let you know where you should plan your next trip to.

Houston, Texas

Yes, I was based out of Houston, so you can call me biased. However, this doesn’t take away from the fact that Houston is certainly one of the best cities you can visit in the U.S. There’s a reason why so many people live in Houston, as it is the 4th most populous city in the U.S. I was going to compile a list of my own, but TripAdvisor covered pretty much all of it. Make sure to check out NASA’s Space Center and the Prison Break Escape Room which are on the TripAdvisor list. Even though my home was in Houston, I was often given vouchers to stay at local hotels. My favorite hotel was Hotel Zaza which I highly recommend if you’re touring Houston.

San Diego, California

California may be known for L.A. and San Francisco, but San Diego is where it’s at people. The beaches, in my honest opinion, are the best in the country (aside from Myrtle Beach which I will get to below). The sailing and water tours are unreal, such as the San Diego Harbor Cruise (which is a day tour). The historic sites are beautiful. The San Diego Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country alongside the Bronx Zoo. Also and especially if you are travelling with older children, make sure to visit the Haunted San Diego Ghost Tour. The Hilton Bayfront is nice, but expensive. So, consider the US Grant as a cheaper alternative while maintaining a very good overall rating.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

You may have never heard of Myrtle Beach but it is always rated as a top 5 destination for vacation. While there are lots of things to do, the top 5 rating most certainly has to do with their beaches and resorts. Myrtle Beach State Park is amazing. If you’re looking for a place to stay, the Marriot OceanWatch Villas at Grande Dunes is the best choice, although it is expensive (I obviously have an obsession with Marriot hotels). If you’re looking for something that you can definitely afford, try the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, which is very close to the Marriot.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Am I serious? Why yes, I am. Brooklyn is no longer what is used to be. It is full of culture, arts, history and music. It’s basically heaven for people who truly enjoy life. Plus, the Italian food (pizza in particular) is some of the best in the country. The Navy Yard is always fun, as the Brooklyn Botanic garden. The beach at Coney Island, in my personal opinion, is the most underrated beach in the country. And then of course there’s DUMBO. You have to visit DUMBO, especially for the night life. My favorite hotel in Brooklyn was the Condor Hotel. While I didn’t have to pay out of pocket, the prices are supposedly one of the best in the Brooklyn area. Not bad for a 4-star hotel.

The four cities above are my personal favorite so just keep that in mind before booking anything. Other places I enjoyed are Miami, Memphis, Phoenix, Jackson Hole, and Chicago (even with all of their crime).
