The Best Places to Pick Apples

Fall is here and it is the perfect time to gather some fresh apples and make all of those delicious recipes with them. From apple cider to apple pies, you can head to these spots to pick the best apples. Not only is it a lot of fun for the whole family, it puts everyone in the holiday spirit.

Fishkill Farms has been in New York for close to 100 years. It is a historic orchard that has over 15 acres of vegetables, almost 1,000 chickens and 80 acres covered in fruit. They offer 50 different types of apples and families can visit the farm to pick apples from their huge apple trees and take part in hayrides and enjoy their delicious ice cream, donuts and fresh cider.

The same family has run the orchard in Virginia for over 200 years. They say it is the first place in the state where guests can pick their own apples. Visitors can choose from 20 different apples. The orchard sits on a beautiful property that is full of history. The farm is from the mid-1700s and visitors get to pick apples while viewing the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains.

Riley’s at Los Rios Rancho in Oak Glen

Just 75 miles from Los Angeles, Los Rios Rancho has called California home for over 100 years. The Riley Family runs the orchard now that is covered with 200-acres of crisp apples. You can also find a farm shop a museum on the grounds. They offer hayrides, craft sessions and a petting zoo. It is not only one of the best places to bring your family to pick eight different types of apples, they will also have a ton of fun with all of the other activities offered here.
