Las Vegas is known around the world for its glitz and glam. It is a must stop travel spot at least once in your lifetime. But for the ultimate Las Vegas vacation, you need to experience it through a local’s guide to Las Vegas.
Enjoy the food
There are so many great places to wine and dine in Las Vegas, and many with different types of atmospheres. You don’t necessarily need to head to the Strip for a delicious cuisine. A favorite by locals, Palace Station, is part of the Station Casinos chain. This classic casino has the best oyster bar in the city, serving up the freshest seafood options for every taste. The line does get long to get a seat at the bar, but they are open late and it is well worth the wait. If you do want to venture onto the Strip, the Cosmopolitan is home to STK Las Vegas. This has a unique twist on a modern steakhouse, set in a hip nightclub setting. The menu contains tasty steaks and refreshing cocktails, all in the middle of the Vegas nightlife. If you are looking for something a little bit lower key, Hash House a Go Go inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino has a menu full of breakfast, lunch and dinner options, all with a twist on fresh farm food. It is a busy spot, especially among locals, and one of their favorite and most recommended dishes is their chicken and waffles.
Getting around town
It really depends on what you want to do in Vegas, but getting around isn’t as expensive as you may think. This is because of the growing popularity of Uber and Lyft. Now you don’t have to pay for those expensive taxis! Most casinos also offer free shuttles to take their guests to popular spots throughout Las Vegas. The Strip also has a monorail system to take drop you off to and from different casinos. But if you are staying on the Strip, the best way to enjoy and experience all it has to offer is to simply walk. The weather in southern Nevada is usually gorgeous and this way, you won’t miss out on all of the entertaining things the Strip has to offer.
Las Vegas is home to some of the best shopping you can find. Located right on the Strip is the Fashion Square Mall. With over 250 shops and 25 different restaurants, this upscale mall is a great place to shop or even just browse. Plus, they put on weekly fashion shows. Just further down the Strip inside Caesar’s Palace sits The Forum Shops. This is an indoor mall connected to the popular casino. It has a handful of upscale shops and even attractions all in a glitzy, roman-themed setting. If you are looking for a more traditional and casual shopping spot, the Galleria at Sunset is the perfect place. It is located in Henderson, a town just outside of Vegas that is easy to get to. It is one of the largest shopping centers in the state and is a popular spot for locals.
